I got probably 3.5 hours of quality sleep the night before our wedding day. It was a lot like going to sleep on Christmas Eve as a kid – there’s so much anticipation for what’s coming the next day that it’s hard to actually quiet your mind to sleep. I remember waking up and just taking a few minutes in bed to think about what lie ahead of me that day, what it all meant, and how I wanted to take in as many of the details as I could. I’d always heard brides describe their wedding day as “a blur” and say that they don’t remember much, so I wanted to try to fight that as much as possible. Spoiler alert: it’s hard to do. We had spent so many months planning this special day, I wanted to make sure I noticed and registered as many details as I could!
Mike and I didn’t have our “first look” until about 2 in the afternoon, so I had all morning to leisurely get ready with my bridesmaids. It was so fun to have my sister and my closest friends around me while doing my makeup and hair for my WEDDING DAY. We had mimosas and breakfast, and I checked the clock about 2384 times to see how many more minutes I had to wait to see Mike. I made sure that I had my bags packed for our stay at the hotel, all of my accessories laid out and my lipstick nearby.
One of the really fun things was being able to watch the progress that was being made with setup. I watched our front yard slowly turn into the ceremony space of my dreams.I wore these earrings from Elisabeth Ashlie for the ceremony and these for the dancing (with my second dress!). I gifted my bridesmaids with these statement studs and these bracelets to wear.
