It feels like just last month, I was getting ready to setup Liam’s “big boy” room in anticipation of Cam and Audrey’s arrival…now here I am getting ready to give them “big” rooms! For at least 6 months, I’ve been wanting to give the kids’ bedrooms an update. Cam’s room, which was the shared nursery for the first 4 months, hasn’t had a single thing done to it in over 2 years. Audrey’s bedroom was a little haphazardly decorated, and Liam’s room is now a big “young” for him and he’s ready for an elementary kid update! My mom will be in town for a bit at the end of October and has offered to paint their rooms, which is music to my ears because I loathe painting. With that timeline in mind, I’m in full prep mode to make sure we have everything we need to be able to design and setup their rooms after painting!
We’re also planning on doing a little musical chairs with their rooms — everyone is rotating. Liam is moving to Cam’s current room (which will actually be the room Liam started in as a baby!), Cam is moving to Audrey’s current room, and Audrey is moving to Liam’s current room. The boys will share a bathroom and Audrey will get her own, so we can also personalize the bathrooms a bit more than they are right now. While none of this has been a priority the past 2.5. years with 3 little kids, I finally have the motivation and energy to do it, so I’m looking forward to creating unique spaces for each of them to call their own that reflect their interests and personalities!
Audrey’s Room
For Audrey’s room, we’re going all pink everything. She is the girliest girl, which is so fun, so when I asked her what she wanted her big girl room to be like, all she said is PINK! We’re keeping this beautiful green color that is currently on the walls, but adding pink, feminine details everywhere we can! For now, I think we’re just going to convert her crib into a toddler bed. Once we’re ready to ditch the cribs, I’m strongly leaning towards a daybed like this.

Cameron’s Room
The room Cam is moving into is the smallest of the bedrooms. Lucky for us, he’s the most chill, laidback little guy, so he will not care one bit that his room is smaller! I want to do a calming blue wall paint, add in some functional storage for books and toys, and add some fun decor elements with trucks and “boy” stuff. He loves trucks and trains, so I will find all the little ways to add those details in for him.

Liam’s Room
You shouldn’t be surprised to learn that we’re leaning into a hockey theme for Liam’s new room! I don’t want to do too much of it, in case he outgrows his interest, but we have some very cool NHL-themed art prints that will definitely be the focal point of his room. Now that he’s in elementary school and learning how to read and practicing spelling, I want to get him a desk so he can have a little learning area. He loves to write notes to his friends, work in workbooks, and do things like that, so I know he will enjoy having a cool desk area to do all of that. Plus, as he gets older and gets real homework assignments, he can have a quiet space to do them if he wants!

Those are the visions I have for each of their rooms! For now, I’m not buying any new beds. Liam already has the one that will be going in his new room and Cam and Audrey will keep with cribs until we’re ready to transition them out. The bulk of my shopping will be for decorative elements, which is the most fun part!
