Books I’ve Read and Loved, Part Two

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
Of all the books I’ve read in the last year or so, this was probably my least favorite. I found it to be slow at times. There were a lot of characters introduced in the beginning, so I had a bit of a hard time keeping up. Eventually it earned my interest and I read it all the way through. While I wouldn’t say it’s a must-read, I was entertained by it.

We Were The Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter
I haven’t finished this one yet, but am really enjoying it! It’s based on a true story, so there’s an added element of intrigue and fascination. It’s sadness and joy all wrapped up in one book.

When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi
This book. Oh man, where do I start? I loved every page of it. Paul wrote an inspiring, heartbreaking and incredibly story about his journey facing death after a terminal-illness diagnosis. Be warned, it is emotional. I finished the book in bed one night and couldn’t stop crying, especially reading the afterword from his wife. But I think it’s an important read and would highly recommend it.

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen
This might be my favorite thriller/mystery/twisty book from this group. Like the reviews say, it will truly keep you guessing around each corner – it’s wild! I loved that it wasn’t predictable like some of these books can be.

The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine
You’ve probably seen this title or cover circulating around, and for good reason! I really liked it. For the first half or so, I had thoughts and opinions that were completely turned on their head once I got into the story.

I Found You by Lisa Jewell
This one was good! It was another one that was a bit twisty and I wasn’t sure how it was going to end up, so it kept my interest the entire time. It was like a good old-fashioned mystery.

Do you read Cup of Jo? I came across a post on there recently that When Breathe Becomes Air is the story of her brother in law and it broke my heart all over again. Also I've been reading a lot of Mary Kubica books lately and I think you would enjoy them! Also The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter, it's a tough read with some emotional and triggering scenes, but it was so good.

I'm so glad you recommended When Breath Becomes Air! It is definitely an emotional read, but one that I think everyone should read at some point. My mom passed away last year from cancer so the book definitely hit home for me. Reading has definitely helped me with my grief. You should trying reading Rare Bird next. So sad but so good!

I absolutely loved reading this roundup, some of these books have been on my TBR list for a while. I would highly recommend any of B A Paris' books as they are great! 😀

YAY! I am so glad you are enjoying We Were the Lucky Ones. I tend to like more of the mystery/thriller type books but really felt this book was good for my soul. Reminded me to be thankful for so much! I am halfway through Eleanor Oliphant and have mixed feelings about it. Just finished "Then She Was Gone" by Lisa Jewell (bc I loved "I Found You" too) and would highly recommend. Also loved loved loved "Everything You Want Me to Be" by Mindy Mejia
